アメリカのアリゾナ州のキーリー・ザボニックと申します。２０１８年８月から豊橋市役所多文化共生国際課の国際交流員です。

日本に来る前に、アリゾナ大学で言語学と日本語を勉強しました。卒業した後で三年間島根県の出雲市で英語指導助手として働きました。そして、ハワイ大学院に入って、音声学を研究しました。

趣味は重量挙げとボルダリングです。中学生の時器械体操をやっていまして、その２つのスポーツで器械体操と似ている柔軟さと強さを使えます。運動以外の趣味は昆虫採集です！特に甲虫と蛾が大好きです！

豊橋では今までの一番驚くことはヨロッパ人を何人も会う機会がありました！実は豊橋市が2016年からドイツとリトアニアのホストタウンに登録されましたので東京2020に関する通訳と翻訳が多いです。今からも様々の国からの方を対応していることに楽しみにしています！よろしくお願いします！

Hello! My name is Keely Zabonik and I am from Arizona in the United States. I have been the Coordinator for International Relations at Toyohashi City Hall since August 2018.

Before coming to Japan, I double majored in linguistics and Japanese at the University of Arizona. After I graduated, I taught English in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture for three years. Then, I went to graduate school at the University of Hawaii where I carried out research in phonetics.

My main hobbies are weightlifting and bouldering. I did gymnastics when I was in junior high and a lot of the strength and flexibility required for gymnastics carries over quite well for those two sports. Other than working out, I also enjoy collecting insects! My favorite insects are beetles and moths.

When I came to Toyohashi I expected to meet many different people, but I have been most surprised by how many Europeans I have met since I came here! Because Toyohashi has been registered as a host town for both Germany and Lithuania, there are plenty of translation and interpreting projects that are connected to the Tokyo 2020 Games. I am looking forward to continuing my work with people from all over the world!
